Behind the Track (4th Album) #3 — 幸せが怖い (Afraid of Being Happy)

“See you” changed its meaning. This time it’s real — and since realizing that, sleep won’t come. Being happy and unable to sleep: the strangest, most honest feeling on the 4th album.
The scene it came from
Photos piling up, plans piling up, unerasable things piling up — and that being both joyful and terrifying, both feelings true. Where the 3rd album’s 午前3時の最悪 imagined disasters that hadn’t happened, this song fears a happiness that is happening — the same habit’s brighter, and more painful, version.
Sound notes
100 BPM, B-flat minor. The fastest track on the record. Restless, finely chopped hi-hats build the pulse of being glad and unsettled at once, and glass-like plucks ring over it as if about to shatter. The sound of happiness, deliberately built from a breakable material.
One line
不幸には 慣れていたのに 幸せには 慣れ方がない — I was used to unhappiness, but there’s no way to get used to happiness
A kind of fear nobody teaches you. Still, in the last line, the hand doesn’t let go.
