A room unchanged except that the sound is gone. Someone waiting, entrance light still on, for footsteps that aren’t coming. The first night you realize you’re not bad at being alone — you were just good at being next to that person. That’s midnight, where this album starts.

92 BPM, F-sharp minor. The most minimal track on the record. It opens with room noise — the sound of empty air — and uses almost no drums. A song that draws absence needed its sound to be empty too.
