Waiting ten seconds before letting the read receipt show. Carrying the charger around the room, afraid something ends if the battery dies. Every detail here draws one state: being scared of getting close to happy. Once you’ve known the nights when no notification comes, the nights when one does come turn frightening too.
Sound notes
98 BPM, F minor. The only track on the record with a bright synth. The chime that repeats behind the chorus is designed like an actual notification tone — the same sound looping while the chords shift under it, so it reads as joy in one bar and anxiety in the next.
