Behind the Track (SHINYA AFTER 2nd) #4 — Sleeping on the Floor

Two years of looking up at the same ceiling, and this is the first time she sees it.
The scene it came from
The bed went out yesterday. A blanket on bare floor, and it is hard.
「天井が 遠い / こんなに 高かった / 毎日 見てたのに / 初めて 見る」. Nothing about the ceiling changed; the thing she used to look at it from is gone.
The most exact description of the night before a move sits in the second verse: 「何も できないのに / なぜか 疲れてる / やることは 終わって / 時間だけ 余る / 余った時間が / いちばん 長い」. The work being finished is what makes the hours long.
The bridge quietly sets up the closer: 「この床で / 最初の夜も 寝た / 何も なかった / 今と 同じ」. She slept on this floor the first night too. The room she is leaving is the room she arrived in.
Sound notes
The lowest sub bass on the album. The harmony opens wide and the percussion thins to a single soft brush. Everything sits under the vocal — she is on the floor, so the ceiling is far.
One line
余った時間が / いちばん 長い — and the time left over / is the longest
This is the middle of the record and the middle of the night. From here the album starts closing things down, one at a time.
