Behind the Track (SHINYA AFTER 2nd) #3 — Didn't Fit in the Box

The hardest thing to pack is the thing you have no reason to keep.
The scene it came from
「最後の一つが / どうしても 入らない / 捨てるほどでも / 持っていくほどでも」. She carries it around the room once, looking for somewhere to set it down, and finds nowhere.
The stall is precise: 「要らない わけじゃない / 要る わけでもない / だから ずっと / 決められない」. Not indifference — the exact midpoint where a decision cannot form.
The bridge is the centre of the song, and arguably of the album: 「これを もらった日を / まだ 覚えてる / くれた人のことは / もう 曖昧で / 物だけが / 正確に 残る」. The object keeps a sharper record than the person does.
There is no resolution. 「結局 持っていく / 使わないのに / そういうものが / 毎回 増える」 — it goes in the box, unused, and the pile grows with every move.
Sound notes
The driest, smallest sound on the album. The reverb is almost entirely gone, finger snaps sit close to the mic, and one guitar bar repeats in the same place. This song lives in the hand, not the room, so the room was taken out of it.
One line
物だけが / 正確に 残る — only the object / stays exact
Every other track in this album is about a room. This one is about a hand, and the mix follows.
