Behind the Track (SHINYA AFTER 2nd) #2 — Nothing in the Closet
A habit outlives the thing it was for.
The scene it came from
「クローゼットを 開ける / 何も ない / 分かってるのに / また 開ける」. Nothing has changed since the last time she checked, and she checks anyway.
One hanger was missed on the way out and swings on its own. Everything else is a single rod lying across an empty space: 「入れるものが ない / 出すものも ない / 開ける理由が / もう ない」.
A winter coat used to hang here and stayed up through the summer. The coat that ran through tracks three and five of the previous album is already gone from this one — which is how you know how much time has passed between the two records.
The bridge asks a question and refuses to answer it: 「空っぽを 見て / 安心するのは / なんでだろう / 分からないまま」.
Sound notes
The first track where the 808 sub enters, taking over from the silence of track one. A short attack like a door catching becomes the rhythm, and a muted guitar answers into the empty space.

She does not resolve it, and the album never comes back to it. Some relief has no explanation attached.
