Behind the Track (SHINYA AFTER 2nd) #1 — Empty Room

The album opens on the night everything has already been carried out.
The scene it came from
Three boxes hold everything: 「思ってたより / ずっと 少ない」. With the furniture gone the footsteps come back off the walls — 「こんな音 したっけ」 — and the room turns unfamiliar without changing at all.
The chorus sets the premise the whole album runs on: 「声が 返ってくる / 返ってくるだけ / 広い わけじゃない / 何も ないだけ」. It is not spaciousness. It is absence.
Only the wall keeps a record — the patches where furniture stood are a shade off, and 「そこに 何が あったか / 私しか 知らない」. She does not mourn it. Whoever arrives tomorrow will read the room as new, and 「それで いいと 思う / それが いいと 思う」.
Sound notes
No drums at all — one of only two tracks like that, with the closer. A single Rhodes chord spreads into a long room reverb, footsteps and breath left in, and the sub-bass enters only on the chorus. The most reverberant track on the album.
One line
声が 返ってくる / 返ってくるだけ / 広い わけじゃない / 何も ないだけ — my voice comes back / it only comes back / it isn’t that it’s wide / there’s just nothing in it
The second line of the album is 「歩くと 響く」. Keep it in mind — the last line of the album answers it.
