Behind the Track (SHINYA AFTER 1st) #6 — Light Gets In

Six tracks in minor keys, and then this one opens. It’s the only major key on the record, and it’s the track where everything is lost.
The scene it came from
A single line of light through the gap in the curtain, falling to the floor and running straight. She could step out of it and can’t: 「이미 와 버렸다 / 이미 끝나 버렸다」.
The pre-chorus names what actually hurts: 「눈부신 건 / 빛이 아니라 / 이걸로 끝이라고 / 알아 버리는 것」. It isn’t the brightness. It’s the knowing.
And now, finally, she can see his face — after a whole night of only a voice. But she won’t say it was better: 「보이는 편이 / 나았던 건지 / 지금도 모르겠다 / 아마 계속」.
Only the last chorus grows a tail: 「終わることも / きれいだった」 — even the ending was beautiful. The only track on the album that ends open.
Sound notes
The only major key on the record. The Rhodes opens wide, the 808 turns warm and round, and a single bright guitar line arrives late. The other six tracks are all minor.
One line
暗いままなら 続けられた / でも 続けたい だけじゃ ない — if it had stayed dark we could have continued / but wanting to continue is not all of it
The most adult sentence in the SHINYA catalogue. Wanting it isn’t the only thing that’s true.
