Behind the Track (SHINYA AFTER 1st) #5 — Your Coat Is Still Here

The one track on the album whose protagonist isn’t a person. It’s a coat.
The scene it came from
It’s still hanging on the back of the chair, and that alone means 「아직 안 간 거다」. Forgotten or left on purpose? She could just ask. She doesn’t. She looks at the coat instead — 「계속 보고 있다」.
The sleeve is touching the floor and she won’t pick it up, for a reason that is the most honest thing in the song: 「주워 주면 / 뭔가 정해질 것 같아서 / 그대로 뒀다」. Any action at all would settle the question, so she takes none.
The bridge is the driest line on the album: 「물건 쪽이 / 먼저 답을 낸다 / 사람은 아직 / 아무 말도 못 한다」.
Sound notes
The lowest sub-bass on the record. Long silences between phrases, one muted guitar note repeating, percussion almost gone entirely. The stillest track here.
One line
まだ 終わってない / そういう ことにする — it isn’t over yet / that’s what I’ll call it
「そういうことにする」— I’ll treat it as that. Not a belief, a decision. She knows she’s deciding, and does it anyway.
