The fourth room is one about to become someone else’s. With the boxes gone, the room is wider than the day she first saw it. The last night of four years — even the bedding has shipped out, so she lies down under her coat.
The scene
Dents from furniture legs on the floor; only the patch under the fridge a different shade. The biggest sun-fade on the wall is where the calendar hung. She decides not to take a photo — afraid she couldn’t leave if she did. Only she knows what used to be here, and tomorrow it becomes a stranger’s room.
Sound notes
84 BPM, F-sharp minor. A spacious half-time, with a single reverbed guitar harmonic ringing somewhere far away. The reason the reverb runs so long is written into the lyric itself — with no furniture left to absorb it, sound stays in the room. The arrangement is the empty room’s own acoustics.

The song ends on “but just tonight, it’s mine” — the quietest possessive on the album.
